Cleaning chalk dust from my table cloth

I just got myself a new pool table, and I'm looking for the best way to clean up chalk dust and those little fibers. I've been considering using a lint brush or maybe a handheld vacuum, but I'm worried about damaging the felt. Does anyone have tips or safe cleaning methods that have worked for them?

The guys that own the place I usually go to play use a soft brush and vacuum cleaner and their tables look pretty good. No damage that I can see, so might try that. I remember one of the owners mentioning about a solution for tougher stains, but I never asked which solution is that.
