I am looking for ffficial 8-Ball rules for my new pool table

I recently bought an American-style pool table, and honestly, I'm pretty confused about the official pool rules for 8-ball. Every time friends come over, they all play a different way, some stick to bar rules, others make up their own version. I've just been going with the flow, but I'd really like to find the proper 8-ball pool rules and hang them up for everyone to follow.

The issue is, there are so many different versions out there, and I'm not sure which one's actually official. Any advice would be a huge help

Here's an unpopular opinion. Since you're probably playing for fun, then go for whatever rules you decide to play. Sure, they may be wrong, but your doing it for fun, not for winning the championship. If you really want to play by the rules or at least get familiar with them, the World Pool-Billiard Association will have the info you're looking for.
