small space for a pool table

So I wanted to surprise my grandpa and he got this small space that's about 14x16 for a table. A 7 footer would fit, but an 8 footer would be tighter. it will leave him with maybe 6 inches short on each long side. anyone out there playing with a similar setup? I'm really considering the 8-foot if it's not gonna be a headache! what do you think?

Man, props for doing that for your grandpa! If he's just doing it for fun and not super competitive, the 8-footer could work. It'll be tight tho. But anyway, I've seen other people rock it in even smaller spaces. Go big if you think he'll love the table more than he'll mind the shuffle room.

You can easily find shorter cues online or at most billiard stores, just look for the 36" or 48" options.
